Gameweek 25 of the 2024/2025 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with a number of key fixtures that could influence both player selections and point hauls. As the season progresses, managers are beginning to fine-tune their squads, balancing form with upcoming fixtures and injuries.
This Gameweek provides a blend of high-scoring opportunities and potential pitfalls, requiring managers to strike the right balance between form, fixture difficulty and squad depth.
FORMATION: 3:5:2
Goalkeeper: Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)
The Argentinian offers a secure route into Villa’s rearguard for their pair of home matches. Martinez has produced 65 points this season, more than any Villa defenders.
DEF: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
The Dutchman is preferred to Alexander-Arnold as the Liverpool defender for their DGW25 after the latter only appeared as a substitute against Everton on Wednesday night. Van Dijk has started all 24 of the Reds’ matches this season, combining a goal and an assist with 10 clean sheets.
DEF: Gabriel (Arsenal)
Arsenal’s Brazilian boasts major potential at both ends of the pitch against Leicester City. Gabriel is the third top-scoring defender in 2024/25 Fantasy, earning 94 points thanks to three goals, two assists and seven clean sheets.
DEF: Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
AFC Bournemouth’s left-back is the most-bought defender in the Gameweek for the Cherries’ trip to Southampton. Kerkez has earned 223,000+ transfers in ahead of Friday’s 18:30 GMT deadline, more than twice the total of any other player in his position in Fantasy.
MID: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – CAPTAIN
The Egyptian treated his 71 per cent ownership to back-to-back hauls of 16 and 13 points in DGW24. Salah also produced double-figure returns against both his DGW25 opponents earlier this season and will, once again, be the runaway captain pick for managers in Fantasy.
MID: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
A visit to Brighton & Hove Albion gives the Chelsea playmaker to deliver another bumper haul. Palmer scored four goals to collect his season-high 25 points in his previous meeting with the Seagulls back in Gameweek 6.
MID: Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)
With injury doubts over a number of his fellow Arsenal attackers, the Belgian could be a decisive figure for the Gunners’ visit to Leicester. Trossard earned 12 points against the Foxes back in Gameweek 6, producing a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win.
MID: Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth)
Five goals and two assists over the last four Gameweeks have made Bournemouth’s Dutchman the No 1 target for managers in Gameweek 25. A massive 528,000+ managers have brought in Kluivert ahead of a very favourable run of fixtures for the Cherries.
MID: Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
Villa’s forward is expected to be fit for their DGW25 after missing their FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Watkins’ huge threat at Villa Park makes him the best captain alternative to Salah – he’s had 42 shots in the box in home matches, three times his total of 14 in away encounters.
FWD: Cody Gakpo
The Dutchman, who has emerged as an injury doubt for Sunday’s match, has started each of Liverpool’s last 13 league matches, producing seven goals and three assists across that spell. Gakpo’s total of 72 points across that period ranks second only to Salah for the Reds.
FWD: Ollie Watkins
Villa’s forward is expected to be fit for their DGW25 after missing their FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Watkins’ huge threat at Villa Park makes him the best captain alternative to Salah – he’s had 42 shots in the box in home matches, THREE TIMES his total of 14 in away encounters.
