Matchday 34 of the Premier League is spread over 10 days, as it encompasses the FA Cup semifinals on the weekend of April 26-27, with the pick of the matches seeing Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Liverpool and Spurs will clash at Anfield on the late afternoon of Sunday, April 27, with Arne Slot’s needing just one point to win the title. This means victory or a draw against Tottenham would land the Reds a 20th domestic title.
The sides will be meeting for the fourth time this season, with their first Premier League encounter back in December producing an amazing 6-3 away triumph for the Reds.
The teams then met in a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final, with Tottenham winning 1-0 at home, before being blown away 4-0 in the return game.
“At our training ground, we are just focused on the training sessions we do and trying to prepare in the best possible way for Tottenham, which is a team where all the injuries are coming back and are a team that deserves our full attention,” said Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
”The boys also have one or two days off during this week because we’ve planned that already a long time ago and hopefully they will enjoy some time with their loved ones and be fully focused when we are back together to work towards Tottenham,” he added.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou recently spiced up the narrative between the two teams by claiming that Liverpool get preferential treatment in the media, citing a great ‘fuss’ being made when decisions go against Arne Slot’s side.

“I think in the time I’ve been here, we’ve had two decisions that have gone for us against Liverpool and there has been a national campaign, almost,” said the Australian.
“It seems like every fight ends up being an internal fight at this club. There’s never any sort of defending of the club or the club defending itself. It’s a unique challenge, but I accepted that challenge so I’ve got to try to find a way to overcome it.”
Villa, City and Palace will all be in FA Cup semifinal action on the weekend.
The weekend will feature Chelsea hosting Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday, while a potential thriller later the same afternoon sees Graham Potter return to the South Coast, as he takes his West Ham United to a former club in the shape of Brighton & Hove Albion.
A strong close to the campaign is needed for the Hammers, who have endured a somewhat dispiriting season: “You want to finish as high as you can but, at the same time, finish the season off in a good way so you’ve got positivity, progress and also information in terms of what we need to do in the summer and how we can improve things,” said Potter.

Also in action in this round is Bournemouth against Manchester United on Sunday, as well as the re-arranged clash on Thursday 1 May between FA Cup semifinalists Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
