A top-of-the-table encounter between Liverpool and Arsenal headlines the Premier League’s matchday 36 action, while the race for European spots has intensified with two games left.

Liverpool will welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Sunday, May 11, with the newly crowned champions looking to bounce back to winning ways following their defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on May 4. The defeat to Arsenal’s London rivals ended the Reds’ three-match winning streak in the league.
The Reds will be up against a Gunners side that is also wounded after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on May 3. Second-placed Arsenal will be looking to get their bid to finish in the top five back on track with a win at Liverpool.
“Well, we have a lot to do, yeah, because mathematically we are not qualified, we haven’t earned the right to finish second yet. So we still have a lot to do, yeah,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said when asked about his side’s top five ambitions.
“They (PSG) won the league, so they have the luxury to do that. We haven’t because we still have a lot to do in the Premier League. But we have four days and I’m sure we’ll be fully recovered and at our best to play the game.”
Meanwhile, third-placed Manchester City, who are now the most in-form team in the league, having won their last four matches, will travel to the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, May 10, where they will take on an already relegated Southampton side.

“We have a couple of weeks [until the FA Cup final]. We know we have Southampton, if we can win that game, that’s a good point to go forward for the Champions League,” City star Kevin De Bruyne said.
“And then Crystal Palace, that would be nice to end that way. For now, enjoy the weekend and work towards Southampton. I like to win everything.”
A clash between top-five hopefuls, fourth-placed Newcastle United and fifth-placed Chelsea, will take place at St James’ Park on Sunday, May 11. Newcastle will be keen to return to winning ways after drawing with Brighton and Hove Albion on May 4, while Chelsea are coming off a morale-boosting win over Liverpool.

“Brilliant, thanks for that,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said after he was informed that their rivals, Chelsea, had taken the lead against a much-changed Liverpool side.
“Liverpool have got to do what Liverpool have to do. I am not involved in their football club. We play Chelsea next week, so that’s all we focus on now.”
Manchester United will be desperate to end a six-match winless run in the league when they host West Ham United on Sunday, May 11 and there will be a London Derby clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, while top-five hopefuls Nottingham Forest are set to play host to an already-relegated Leicester City side.
