The fairways of Nyanza Golf Club came alive this weekend as golfers battled it out in the Riley Falcon Swing Off, with Dave Karia emerging as the star of the day.

Karia posted an impressive 41 points to claim the overall winner’s prize at the scenic course perched on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Beaming with pride, Karia described how he kept his game steady despite the swirling lakeside winds.

“I knew the wind would be a challenge but I stayed calm, trusted my short game, and avoided risky shots. That’s what got me here today,” he said after lifting the winner’s trophy.

Albert Ojonyo matched Karia’s score with 41 points to secure the men’s winner title. Vitalis Asewe finished close behind with 39 points, earning the men’s runner-up position, while Trau Bhayani completed the top three with 38 points.

In the ladies’ category, Lydia Selestine played outstanding golf to post 40 points, finishing ahead of Lilian Kongani who took second place with 36 points.

Tobias See, the man behind the Riley Falcon Swing Off, walked away with the sponsor’s top prize after scoring 40 points. Nicholas Okello followed as the sponsor runner-up with 35 points, while Victor Kinyaua took home the guest prize on 31 points.

Lydia Selestine added another trophy to her name by winning the nearest to pin on hole 13. Big hitters Billy Ouko and Joyce Osike proved unstoppable off the tee, claiming the longest drive for men and ladies respectively on hole 12.

Young Faraja Mulunda turned heads with 42 points to clinch the junior winner’s prize, narrowly beating Tony Nyambogo who scored 41 points.

For Tobias See, the tournament was not just about competition but also about giving back to the place where his golfing journey began.

“Bringing this event to Kisumu means so much to me. I was the captain here back in 2011 and this course shaped my love for the game. I wanted to bring something special home and inspire the next generation of golfers,” he shared.

The day wrapped up with smiles, handshakes and plans for an even bigger swing off next year, as golfers and fans alike soaked in the sunset views of Lake Victoria and celebrated another memorable day at Nyanza Golf Club.
