The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially announced the appointment of three new directors for the presidential office, communications, and human resources departments.
Jan Paterson has been appointed Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of IOC President Kirsty Coventry, effective September 15. James Pearce assumed the role of Chief Communications Advisor to the IOC President on September 1. Julien Baehni will succeed Xavier Tissieres as Human Resources Director, with a transition period extending until March 2026.
Paterson spent over two decades at the British Olympic Association, where she held multiple roles. She also served as the Deputy Chef de Mission for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics and as Chef de Mission for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Pearce was previously a sports broadcaster at the BBC, while Baehni is currently the Chief of Human Resources at UEFA, the governing body for European football.
“We warmly welcome Jan Paterson, James Pearce, and Julien Baehni to our organisation. They bring a wealth of experience to the IOC in their respective fields, and we look forward to benefiting from their knowledge,” said IOC Director General Christophe De Kepper in a statement.
