KCB RFC finished their season on a high after being crowned champions of the 2025 SportPesa Kenya National Sevens Circuit at the Dala 7s in Kisumu on Sunday.
The Bankers, who have dominated the local sevens rugby scene this year, sealed the overall title before going on to claim the Dala 7s crown with a 12-05 victory over Kabras in the final at the Mamboleo Showground.

The turning point in the title race came earlier in the quarterfinals when KCB edged Strathmore Leos 15-14 in a nail-biting encounter. The Leos had been their closest challengers on the points table, meaning the result doubled as the championship decider.
Tries from Vincent Onyala and George Ooro kept the Bankers in the contest, with Ooro’s late effort eventually confirming both the match win and the overall crown.
From there, KCB showed no signs of slowing down. In the semifinals, they brushed aside Daystar Falcons 19-05, with scores from Stephen Osumba, Floyd Wabwire, and Ooro again proving decisive.
That set up a final against Kabras, their fierce rivals, who had also been in good form.

The final was cagey, with both sides defending strongly. Scrum-half Samuel Asati gave KCB the perfect start with a try that Osumba converted. Kabras responded with a try of their own, but Wabwire struck in the second half to hand the Bankers their fourth tournament win of the six-leg circuit.
Earlier in the season, KCB had already won the Driftwood 7s, Christie 7s, and Kababeri 7s, while also finishing runners-up in Prinsloo and Embu. The Kisumu success confirmed them as five-time overall champions of the National Sevens Circuit.
Speaking after lifting the trophy, KCB interim coach Andrew Amonde praised his players for their spirit. “The boys have worked very hard throughout the circuit. They showed hunger and determination, especially after a tough 15s season. Winning here in Kisumu is the perfect ending,” he said.

There was also individual recognition, with Onyala named the circuit’s Most Valuable Player for his consistent displays and crucial tries.
The victory not only underlined KCB’s strength in the sevens format but also sent a clear message ahead of future competitions that the Bankers remain the team to beat.
