Following their exit from the FKF Cup following a 5-1 defeat against little known Mfalme FC, Kenyan Premier League outfit Murang’a Seal have fired coach Osborne Monday with immediate effect.
The Murang’a-based outfit was seeking to make it past the Round of 16 of the domestic knockout competition. However, in a match where they started as favourites owing to their participation in the top-flight, they were humiliated 5-1.
Apart from the exit, Murang’a Seal are also posting uninspiring results in the league where they are currently lying ninth in the 18-team table.
“Murang’a Seal wishes to announce that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with Coach Osborne Monday and his assistant Coach Philip Wanjoya,” read part of the club statement.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to both coaches for their professionalism, dedication, and contribution during their time with the club, and we wish them every success in their future endeavors.”
The club further confirmed Dennis Odhiambo, who was until then the assistant coach to replace Monday on an interim basis until the end of the season.
“Following these changes, the club has appointed Dennis Odhiambo as head coach until the end of the season,” added the statement.
“Dennis has been part of Murang’a Seal and the national team Harambee Stars, and we are confident in his ability to lead the team forward. He has also appointed Marcus Abwao as his assistant coach.”
“The club remains focused on its objectives for the season and is confident in the leadership of the new technical bench moving forward,” the statement concluded.
In the Kenya Premier League, Murang’a Seal have won 10 matches, drawn eight and suffered nine defeats. They have collected 38 points from 27 matches.
