Impala Rugby Club has announced a landmark corporate social responsibility initiative in partnership with Earthlungs Reafforestation Foundation, aimed at restoring Kenya’s coastal ecosystems through mangrove reafforestation.
As part of this collaboration, Impala Rugby players, management, and supporters will join Earthlungs in a large-scale mangrove planting exercise in Mombasa.
This initiative underscores the club’s commitment to sustainability, biodiversity protection, and climate change mitigation.
Speaking on the partnership, Brian Jarra noted: “Rugby teaches us teamwork, resilience, and responsibility. By planting mangroves with Earthlungs, we extend those values beyond the pitch to safeguard our environment for future generations.”
The Earthlungs Reafforestation Foundation welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of sports organisations in driving conservation efforts.
“This partnership demonstrates how sport can be a powerful force for environmental stewardship and community engagement,” said William Odongo, Country Manager EarthLungs Kenya.
