20. Rodri – Manchester City to Barcelona | £51m 

One of the biggest surprises of the summer. Rodri left Manchester City for Barcelona in a £51m move, which could climb significantly pushing the total package to £65.3m, bringing an end to a trophy-filled spell in England. The Ballon d’Or winner and Spain captain now returns to La Liga with the task of controlling Barcelona’s midfield. 

19. Tijjani Reijnders – Manchester City to Al-Qadsiah | £52m 

After just one season at Manchester City, Reijnders headed to Al-Qadsiah in a deal worth £52m. The Dutch midfielder’s departure became part of City’s major summer rebuild. 

18. Maxence Lacroix – Crystal Palace to Chelsea | £52m 

Chelsea paid £52m to bring Lacroix from Crystal Palace. The French centre-back arrives after helping Palace enjoy a successful campaign and now faces a much bigger stage at Stamford Bridge. 

17. Jan Paul van Hecke – Brighton to Tottenham | £52m 

Tottenham reunited Van Hecke with Roberto De Zerbi in a £52m deal. The Dutch defender already understands his manager’s style, which could help him settle quickly in north London. 

16. Jeremy Jacquet – Rennes to Liverpool | £55m 

Liverpool paid £55m for 21-year-old Jacquet as they continue to reshape their defence, but the headline figure is only part of the story, as achievable add-ons could take the overall deal to £60m. The France Under-21 international arrives with enormous potential and a huge opportunity to establish himself at Anfield. 

15. Crysencio Summerville – West Ham to Al-Hilal | £55m

11. Carlos Baleba – Brighton to Manchester United | £65m 

Manchester United paid £65m for Baleba after a long pursuit of the Brighton midfielder. 7. Mateus Fernandes – West Ham to Tottenham | £85m 

Tottenham paid £85m for Mateus Fernandes after just one season at West Ham. The Portuguese midfielder, still only 22, made 36 league appearances last season and now becomes one of the central figures in Tottenham’s new era. 

6. Sandro Tonali – Newcastle United to Tottenham | £92.5m

2. Morgan Rogers – Aston Villa to Chelsea | £117m 

Anderson’s record did not last long. Chelsea paid £117m to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, making the England international the most expensive British footballer in history. The 24-year-old joined after recording 10 goals and 6 assists in 37 league appearances last season. 

1. Enzo Fernández – Chelsea to Manchester City | £125m 

Manchester City saved their biggest move until the very end. On transfer deadline day, the Premier League champions completed the signing of Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for £125m, equalling the British transfer record. 

The Argentina international became the most expensive signing of the 2026 summer window and the joint seventh most expensive transfer in football history, alongside Liverpool’s Alexander Isak. City had already spent £116m on Elliot Anderson and £81.4m on Ayyoub Bouaddi. Then they delivered one final statement. £125m for Enzo Fernández.
