Defending champions Kabras Sugar kicked off the 2023-2024 season on the front foot on Saturday after thrashing Kisumu RFC 72-10 at the Kakamega Showgrounds.
Kenya Simbas winger Derrick Ashiundu scored four tries as the sugar men welcomed back Kisumu with a beating.
George Nyambua contributed two tries, while Teddy Akala, John Kubu, Walter Okoth, Mathias Osimbo, Dan Angwech, and Lameck Ambetsa also crossed over the white wash.
Kabras are followed closely by Kenya Harlequin who displayed their dominance with a convincing 48-8 victory over Catholic Monks.
KCB are third on the log despite a 45-8 win over Kenya’s most successful rugby club Nondescripts.
Menengai Oilers, Blak Blad, and Strathmore University also bagged wins after seeing off Homeboyz, Mwamba and Nakuru 43-13, 24-16 and 27-25 respectively.
Despite all the six teams bagging bonus point wins that sees all of them collect five points, Kabras lead the standing with the huge point difference of 62 points after their big win.
The Kenya Cup continues next week on Saturday.
