AFC Leopards lit up Super Sunday in the FKF Premier League (SportPesa League) with a ruthless display at Nyayo National Stadium, dismantling Tusker FC 4-0 in a result that sent a strong message to their title rivals. It was a performance full of confidence, hunger and precision, the kind that defines a team coming into its own at the business end of the season.
Samuel Ssenyonjo was the star of the afternoon, netting a brilliant hat-trick with two first-half strikes and a calmly taken penalty in the second half. His movement and finishing left Tusker’s defence chasing shadows. Ronald Sichenje added another just after the break, a goal that effectively killed off any hopes of a Brewers comeback. From that moment on, it was all Leopards – fluid in attack, solid at the back and completely in control.
The emphatic win pushes Ingwe firmly into the title conversation and keeps the pressure on Gor Mahia at the top of the table. For Tusker, it was a sobering afternoon. A side known for consistency and grit simply had no answers, and they now face the task of regaining momentum before the gap above them widens.
Earlier in Kisii, Gor Mahia were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against a stubborn Shabana FC in a tense Nyanza derby. Gor dominated possession and pushed forward in search of a breakthrough, but clear chances were hard to come by. Shabana, well organised and disciplined, defended deep and struck on the counter, frustrating the champions and earning a valuable point.
The draw keeps Gor Mahia three points behind AFC Leopards, with two games in hand. Shabana, meanwhile, continue to quietly impress in the upper half of the table.

As the dust settles on an eventful Sunday, the title race feels tighter than ever. Leopards are charging, Gor Mahia are under pressure to sharpen their attack, and teams like Shabana are proving they can shape the destiny of the league.
Speaking after the Shabana-Gor Mahia match, FKF president Hussein Mohammed said: “Yesterday at Gusii Stadium, we witnessed a well-attended, well-organised, and largely peaceful matchday between Shabana FC and Gor Mahia FC. The Sportpesa League continues to improve, and this was another encouraging sign of progress. I want to thank the fans, the two teams, the security agencies and all organisers for playing their part.
“I also want to congratulate all clubs, officials and fans across the country for a successful weekend of football in all our leagues. There is still work to do, but the direction is clear: Kenyan football is alive, growing, and full of promise.”
With the season gathering pace, Kenyan football fans can expect more drama, more twists and a fierce battle all the way to the finish.
