Goals proved decisive once again at the end of Matchday 5 of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, with several attackers stepping forward as their clubs sealed quarter-final qualification or kept hopes alive heading into the final round of group matches.

At the summit of the scoring charts, four players share the lead on three goals, underlining the evenly balanced nature of this season’s competition as clubs from across the continent remain firmly in contention.

Soufiane El Moudane has been instrumental for Olympique de Safi, scoring twice over the weekend, including the decisive goal in their 2–1 victory over Djoliba that confirmed the Moroccan side’s place in the knockout stages. His goals have been crucial in lifting Safi to second place in Group A with 12 points, just one behind leaders USM Alger.

USM Alger’s attacking depth is reflected in Djamal Kamagaté, who also sits on three goals after playing a key role in their dramatic 3–2 away win against San Pedro. That victory secured top spot in Group A and confirmed USM Alger’s passage to the quarter-finals with a match to spare.

In Group C, Abdennour Belhocini and Prince Nzaou have carried the scoring burden for CR Belouizdad and Otôho d’Oyo respectively. Both players found the net again in Matchday 5 as their teams secured narrow away and home victories that sealed qualification from the group.

Behind the leading quartet, a cluster of players sit on two goals, including Issouf Dosso of San Pedro, Zineddine Draoui of USM Alger and Abderrahim Deghmoum of Al Masry, all of whom remain capable of influencing the final standings on Matchday 6.

With qualification already secured for USM Alger, Olympique de Safi, CR Belouizdad and Otôho d’Oyo, attention now turns to whether the final round of matches will produce a clear Golden Boot favourite or see the race remain tightly contested to the end.
