How Camp Nou became a fortress for LALIGA champions FC Barcelona

May 10th 2026 will go down as a historic day for FC Barcelona. That’s because the Catalan club won a LALIGA EA SPORTS title in ELCLASICO for the first time ever. They had never mathematically sealed a league championship against their biggest rivals before Sunday night, but did exactly that thanks to a 2-0 win, courtesy of spectacular goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres.

Making the win and the celebrations all the more special for Los Azulgranas was the fact they were able to do so at home, at the Spotify Camp Nou. It was on the pitch of their historic home that Ronald Araújo lifted the trophy after the game, with family members quickly joining the players on the hallowed turf to celebrate the success together.

In the stands were some 62,213 fans, a new attendance record since the stadium reopened in November. The supporters backed the team throughout the game and stayed long after the final whistle, enjoying what was FC Barcelona’s first league title sealed at home since 2018/19.

Going for a perfect home record

With Sunday’s win in ELCLASICO, FC Barcelona have now recorded 18 victories from 18 home games this league season. Never before has a team won all 19 of their home fixtures in the Spanish top flight, so Hansi Flick’s side can try to make history when they play their final home game against Real Betis in Matchday 37.

It has been a season of multiple stadiums for the club, who have been carrying out a major redevelopment project at the Spotify Camp Nou over the past few years. While those works were being carried out, Barça played matches at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and at the Estadi Olímpic, the venue in Montjuïc which was home to the 1992 Olympic Games.

Midway through this season, in November, FC Barcelona returned to their historic home and immediately felt like they were back where they belonged, thrashing Athletic Club 4-0 in the first game back. They have now played a total of 18 fixtures at the Spotify Camp Nou since the homecoming, winning 17 of them and only losing at home once against Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League.

In LALIGA EA SPORTS, it’s 18 wins from 18 at home this campaign, with two of those victories coming at the Estadi Johan Cruyff at the beginning of the season against Valencia CF and Getafe CF and with three wins then taking place at the Estadi Olímpic against Real Sociedad, Girona FC and Elche CF.

If FC Barcelona do manage to defeat Real Betis in their final home fixture, they’ll be making history. To have a perfect home record, and to achieve it while moving stadium multiple times, would be so impressive. But, this is an impressive team, one which could even match the LALIGA EA SPORTS record of 100 points from a season if they win all three of their remaining fixtures this term.
