Fantasy Premier League: Hot tips ahead of Gameweek 22

Date:

The frantic Fantasy Premier League programme continues with Gameweek 22 following hot on the heels of 21.

The midweek round of fixtures have teed things up nicely for the weekend with Liverpool’s grip on the Premier League trophy is loosening after they dropped points to (potential title rivals?) Nottingham Forest and Arsenal capitalising upon their slip by beating Spurs.

Arne Slot’s side have another tricky assignment coming up away at Brentford who have been formidable at the Gtech, while the Gunners also have a tough test with Aston Villa the visitors to the Emirates.

Unsurprisingly, Forest assets are in demand in FPL ahead of Saturday’s deadline. At the time of writing, three of their players – Chris Wood, Matz Sels and Ola Aina – feature in the top five most-bought players this week ahead of a home match with Southampton.

Elsewhere, the irrepressible Alexander Isak will continue his quest to beat Jamie Vardy’s all-time Premier League record for goals scored in consecutive games when he takes on Bournemouth at St James’ Park. Isak is currently on an eight-game run, just three behind Vardy’s total from back in 2015-16.

FORMATION: 3:4:3

GK: Martin Dubravka (Newcastle)

Newcastle United’s goalkeeper has proven a very handy asset in Fantasy in the recent absence of the injured Nick Pope (£4.9m). Dubravka has five clean sheets and 37 points over the last six Gameweeks ahead of a home meeting with AFC Bournemouth.

DEF: Josko Gvardiol (Man City)

Manchester City’s Croat has the attacking threat to deliver a bumper haul at Ipswich Town. Gvardiol’s nine shots and six shots in the box both place top among all defenders in Fantasy across the last six Gameweeks.

DEF: Nikola Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest)

The Serb’s 19 shots and 14 headed shots both place among the top three defenders in 2024/25 Fantasy.

DEF: Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace)

Two goals and three clean sheets across his last eight appearances highlight the Crystal Palace wing-back’s impact at both ends of the pitch. Munoz’s total of 20 shots in the box this season is bettered only by the 24 of Gvardiol in his position in Fantasy.

MID: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

A visit to Brentford gives the Liverpool talisman the chance to bounce back from a rare blank against Forest in midweek. Salah scored and earned 10 points against the Bees in Gameweek 2, one of 12 double-digit hauls he’s managed in 20 outings under Arne Slot.

MID: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

The England star could once again prove a very handy armband alternative to Salah when Chelsea host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, providing he shakes off a minor knock. Palmer has produced 10 points in three of the last four Gameweeks, bettering Salah’s score on each of those occasions.

MID: Phil Foden (Man City)

The Man City midfielder has scored all four of his goals this season, and supplied one of his two assists, over the last five Gameweeks. Foden’s 18 shots and 16 chances created in the last six Gameweeks are both team-leading totals.

MID: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)

His midweek goal against Wolves continued the winger’s relentless run of attacking returns. Gordon has scored or assisted in each of Newcastle’s last nine matches across all competitions.

FWD: Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

The Swede is seeking to score for the ninth Gameweek in a row when Newcastle host Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off. Isak has produced 11 goals and three assists across his last eight outings, totalling 85 points.

FWD: Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest)CAPTAIN

Managers in Fantasy have rushed to the Forest forward for his favourable match at home to Southampton. Wood has earned 280,000+ transfers in, more than TWICE the total of any other player.

FWD: Raul Jimenez (Fulham)

The Mexican has the form to take advantage of Leicester City’s poor defence on Saturday afternoon. Jimenez has three goals across Fulham’s last three matches, including a 13-point haul against Ipswich in Gameweek 20.
