Matchday 27 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA SPORTS season is a huge one, not only because every point is so valuable at this stage of the season but because bragging rights are on the line too in multiple derbies, in Madrid and in Catalonia.

The action begins in Vigo on Saturday, when RC Celta host a CD Leganés side who are looking to build on their dramatic victory over rivals Getafe CF from last weekend. Los Pepineros will travel to Galicia full of confidence, especially because they thrashed RC Celta 3-0 earlier in the season, their largest margin of victory since returning to the top flight.

Another team who defeated their upcoming opponent 3-0 earlier in the season is Villarreal CF, who’ll look to do the double over Deportivo Alavés this weekend when they play the return fixture at Mendizorrotza.

The third game of Saturday is a huge one at the bottom of the table, Valencia CF vs Real Valladolid, a battle of two teams inside the relegation. Valencia CF have much more momentum than Los Blanquivioletas right now, but Los Che need wins and will hope the home crowd at Mestalla can inspire them to one.

Then, at 21:00 CET, there is a big game at the top of the table as FC Barcelona host CA Osasuna, who were the first team to defeat the Catalans in LALIGA EA SPORTS this season, when Los Rojillos earned a dramatic 4-2 win in Pamplona in September. Hansi Flick knows his team can’t afford to drop any more points against the team from Navarre.

There is an action-packed Sunday, with five games taking place in one day. The first two of them are Madrid derbies, as Getafe CF take on Atlético de Madrid in southern Madrid and as Real Madrid welcome Rayo Vallecano to the Bernabéu. Curiously, Real Madrid have won just one of their past five against the team from Vallecas. On the other hand, Atleti boast an amazing record against their upcoming opponents, as Diego Simeone has won 22, drawn five and lost none of his 27 meetings with Los Azulones.
There are two simultaneous fixtures taking place at 18:30 CET. One is an intriguing duel between fourth-placed Athletic Club and eighth-placed RCD Mallorca, a key game in the European race. The other is Real Betis vs UD Las Palmas, with Los Verdiblancos in great form after three wins in a row and with the Canary Islanders slipping down the table and seeing their relegation fears increase.
The last of Sunday’s games takes place in San Sebastián, where Real Sociedad take on Sevilla FC. It promises to be a close and competitive game, with these two mid-table sides separated by just one point in the standings ahead of kick-off.

The matchday concludes with another derby on Monday night, this time in Catalonia as RCD Espanyol take on Girona FC in Barcelona. Historically, it’s RCD Espanyol who have been the second-most successful club in Catalonia, but Girona FC have performed better in the past few seasons and will look to keep that up in the final game of Matchday 27.
