Esports Kenya Federation applauds collaboration between GEF and IESF

Date:

Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) has expressed its support for the recent collaboration between Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the International Esports Federation (IESF).

This follows the signing of a Letter of Intent for collaboration between the two federations, which EKF views as “a crucial step in promoting the growth and development of the esports industry on an international scale.”

“Esports has emerged as a thriving modern-day sport, and the Esports Kenya Federation recognises the importance of collaborative efforts for its sustained success,” ESKF president Ronny Lusigi said in a statement.  “The federation is enthusiastic about the potential gains that can be achieved through this alliance between GEF and IESF.”

According to the statement, the collaborative venture not only aims to strengthen the esports landscape globally but also holds promise for the formal inclusion of esports in the Olympic movement. This comes on the heels of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC’s) recent announcement of its intention to organise Olympic Esports Games, further solidifying the legitimacy and recognition of esports on the world stage.

Lusigi added: “ESKF, as the representative body for esports in the country, is committed to actively participating in this collaboration. The federation aims to contribute its expertise and insights to enhance the global esports ecosystem. The visionary leadership of the two presidents, Chris Chan (GEF) and H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan (IESF), is acknowledged and congratulated by ESKF for their dedication to the industry.”

Expressing ESKF’s belief in the instrumental role of collaborative initiatives, Lusigi said such efforts are crucial in advancing the interests of athletes and the esports community.

“Looking ahead, the federation envisions a future where this collaboration not only further popularises esports but also paves the way for increased opportunities, mutual growth, and shared success in the world of esports.

“As esports continues to gain global recognition, the Esports Kenya Federation’s support for this collaboration underscores the collective effort to shape a more interconnected and cooperative international esports landscape. The coming together of these key players in the industry marks a significant milestone, and the federation looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of this collaboration on the esports community at large.”
