CAF Champions League: Tanzanian giants Yanga seek redemption against Egypt’s Al Ahly

Date:

Young Africans coach Miguel Gamondi has expressed confidence that his Tanzanian team has overcome significant disruptions ahead of a crucial TotalEnergies Champions League match against African champions Al Ahly on Saturday.

The team previously suffered a 3-0 defeat to Group D leaders Belouizdad, with a chaotic buildup affecting several players who did not have sufficient recovery time from international duty before facing the Algerians.

Despite acknowledging the formidable threat posed by Al Ahly in Dar es Salaam, Gamondi stated that Young Africans are prepared to take on the strong opponent.

The Argentine coach attributed the previous loss to Belouizdad to stress and insufficient recovery time, but he believes that the team has now addressed these issues with players having had enough rest.

Currently positioned at the bottom of Group D before the visit of two-time reigning champions Ahly, Young Africans’ prospects are at risk. Gamondi’s primary objective is to motivate and rally his team to bounce back against the celebrated opposition.

With so much at stake in Saturday’s showdown against Ahly, showcasing resilience and quality is essential for Young Africans if they hope to progress from this challenging group.

Gamondi emphasizes the importance of avoiding a repeat of previous chaotic preparations, recognizing the significance of the upcoming match.
