Five of the Kenyan lives changed by betPawa’s Dream Maker Season 2

Date:

Season 2 of betPawa’s Dream Maker initiative saw an incredible 20 life-changing Kenyan dreams become a reality.

betPawa’s Dream Bus toured the country last October 2023, travelling through Nairobi, Kakamega, Eldoret, Nakuru and Mombasa to collect people’s dreams. Many others entered online.

Now it’s time to meet five of those 20 dreamers whose dreams were chosen to be realised:

Eliud from Ruai grew his water business

Operating a donkey cart to transport water to clients was slowing Eliud down and limiting the number of deliveries he could make in a day. His dream of owning a tuk-tuk has since been fulfilled, helping him to achieve faster delivery times, expand his base and grow his business. He said: “They’ve elevated me to a place where I don’t know if I’d have been able to reach.”

Isaac dreamed of a shop where he could sell fruits, juices, smoothies and salad. However, he couldn’t fit much in a bucket so could only hawk watermelons in stadiums, streets and parks until Dream Maker helped him launch his Dream Fruit Shop with a mobile fruit cart. Working with his brother, he’s now thinking BIG. “In five years, I want to be a wholesaler,” he revealed.

Felix from Eastleigh secured Usacli FC sponsorship to drive youth empowerment

As head coach of Usacli FC, Felix helps to rescue, rehabilitate and guide troubled youngsters away from crime and drugs. Dream Maker has supported his mission through funding and the provision of training kits and equipment for the team and coach. “We’ll reach a bigger mass. Even the boys in the slums: if they play ball, their lives can be changed.” Felix explained.

Otieno from Nakuru purchased new glasses and a laptop

Strained vision and lack of computer access was stopping Otieno from fulfilling his potential, so he shared his dream of new glasses and a laptop with Dream Maker. Now that he has both, he can see lots of exciting new possibilities ahead of him. Otieno cheered: “Dream Maker is just a good campaign because it raises someone’s level to something else.”

Geoffrey from Gathiga expanded his catering business

Having dreamed of becoming a chef since childhood, Geoffrey succeeded in establishing the Dinner Safari catering group, but found growth restricted by limited funds. Not anymore. Dream Maker is assisting with expansion, which will also create employment opportunities for others. He rejoiced: “I’m 100 steps closer to becoming the best catering group in the country.”
