South African footballer fatally shot in car hijacking


In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through South Africa’s football community, 24-year-old Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs was shot dead during a car hijacking at a petrol station in Johannesburg.

He was a former Under-23 international and represented South Africa at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. While he had not yet made his debut for the senior national team, he was reportedly on the verge of achieving that milestone.
