The CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship kicked off in Cairo, Egypt, amidst much anticipation and excitement as top teams clashed in intense battles to assert their dominance on the continental stage.

Among the notable encounters, one team stood out with a commanding performance that sent a clear message to their competitors.

KCB, the former Africa Champions, entered the tournament with a fierce determination to reclaim the continental glory they last tasted in 2022.

Led by Team Captain Edith Wisa and boasting a formidable lineup, KCB aimed to showcase their skills and prove their mettle against the best teams from across Africa.

In a highly anticipated match, KCB faced off against ASW BEJAIA, seeking to make a resounding statement early in the championship. The sets unfolded with unwavering determination from the Kenyan side, as they dominated the court with precision and power.

Set 1 saw KCB asserting their dominance right from the start, with a commanding performance that left ASW BEJAIA trailing behind.

The scoreline of 25-16 in favor of KCB set the tone for the rest of the match. As the second set commenced, KCB continued to display their superiority, maintaining their momentum and securing another convincing win with a score of 25-09.

Despite a spirited effort from ASW BEJAIA to mount a comeback in the third set, KCB remained composed and focused, refusing to relinquish their control over the match.

With precision serves and relentless attacks, KCB sealed their victory with a final scoreline of 25-21 in the third set, completing a clean sweep over their opponents.

The victory against ASW BEJAIA reaffirms KCB’s status as a force to be reckoned with in African volleyball. With their sights set on reclaiming the championship title, KCB has sent a strong message to their rivals that they are ready to challenge anyone who stands in their way.

Speaking after the match, Captain Edith Wisa expressed her satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their determination to succeed in the tournament.

“We came into this championship with a clear goal in mind, and today’s victory is a testament to our hard work and dedication,” she said. “We know the journey ahead will be tough, but we are prepared to give our all and fight for the title.”

Meanwhile, other notable matches saw powerhouse teams assert their dominance. Al Ahly (EGY) showcased their prowess by overwhelming NC Bejaia (ALG) with a convincing 3-0 victory (25-09/25-10/25-11) in Pool A1. Zamalek VB Club (EGY) also delivered a stellar performance, sweeping aside Asec Mimosa (CIV) with a 3-0 triumph (25-09/25-16/25-13) in Pool B1.

In a thrilling showdown, MKE (CMR) faced SDO (REU) twice, with both matches going down to the wire. MKE emerged victorious in both encounters, demonstrating their resilience and competitive spirit. Litto Team Volley (CMR) also displayed their dominance by securing a convincing 3-0 win over Sococim (SEN) in Pool D1.

Another noteworthy result came from Kenya’s representatives, Kenya Pipeline (KEN), who delivered a commanding performance against Nigeria Customs V.C (NGR) with a 3-0 victory (16-25/10-25/14-25) in Pool C1.
