Nairobi is on the verge of witnessing another boxing spectacle like no other. Dubbed Roar in the Ring Season II, organised by MELK Boxing Promotions, the much-anticipated fight night, slated for Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Charter Hall, Nairobi promises to deliver adrenaline-pumping action in the Kenyan boxing arena.

The bouts will feature professional and para boxing fighters, both male and female, from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The highlight and clash of titans will see Kenya’s Daniel ‘The Hitman’ Wanyonyi face off against Daniel ‘Jungle Warrior’ Okoth in a brutal eight-round Super Middleweight showdown, battling for a national title.

This will be a high-stakes battle pitting two seasoned warriors – both respected legends in Kenya’s boxing circuit – against each other in what is expected to be an all-out war with no room for retreat.

“I am ready to battle it out in the ring once again on home soil; this is my lifestyle, and I cannot wait for Saturday,” Daniel Wanyonyi said.

“I have been active in this sport for long; I have fought in Tanzania and Uganda. That gives me an upper hand as I have gathered enough experience heading into Roar in the Ring Season II. I am expecting a challenge from fighters regionally, but I’m prepared. I recently came from Russia, doing what I do best; bring it on!”

Fans can look forward to eight professional bouts, featuring elite fighters from East Africa. The night will also mark a historic first for Kenya – the debut of Paraboxing, a special showcase celebrating inclusivity and resilience in combat sports.

“We are known globally as pace setters, and Roar in the Ring Season II is a testimony,” Kenya Professional Boxing Commission chairman Reuben Ndolo told journalists in Nairobi ahead of the competitions.

“We believe in inclusivity, and that’s why we have given a chance to everyone to showcase their talent and, at the same time, develop Kenya’s boxing to the next level. I welcome all well-wishers, government agencies, and private sectors to join us in the mission of making the lives of our boxers better. To all boxing promoters out there, let them remain professional and learn from MELK Boxing Promotions.”

Nairobi’s Charter Hall will transform into a full fight night experience, complete with live entertainment, interactive fan zones, and an electric atmosphere for lovers of the sport.

Speaking ahead of the bouts, MELK Boxing Promotions Director Ezekiel Mwabili assured boxing enthusiasts of a fun-filled night; ample parking and guaranteed security. He emphasised that this years Roar in the Ring Series will impact the participating boxers positively and leave a long-lasting impression on their careers.

“Roar in the Ring Season II provides boxers in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania a rare platform to compete professionally, fairly, and inclusively. This year’s edition promises fireworks because we’re also giving para boxers a chance to compete for the top prizes on the big stage. My message to the boxing enthusiasts and fans at large is to come out in their numbers at Charter Hall because there will be heightened security, food, and drinks,” Mwabili assured.

Organisers have urged fans to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available via USSD code *487*29# or MPESA Till Number: 5803087.
