Naivasha will be the center of attention this weekend as more than 100 gamers from across East and Central Africa clash in the FC 26 East Africa Tournament, a thrilling esports event with Sh280,000 up for grabs.
The winner will walk away with Sh90,000, making it one of the region’s most lucrative gaming contests.

The competition, organized by Rangers Kenya in partnership with Nilesh Gorasia, Mombasa Cement, and Kili Games Tanzania, has drawn elite players from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Nigeria, with more still confirming participation.
Kenya’s number one gamer Joash Ogutu, known in gaming circles as Jojo Depay, will lead the local charge alongside fellow Rangers Esports stars Moses Thumbi (Lord 7) and Vincent Odinga (Chibu).

“I’m fully prepared for this challenge,” said Jojo Depay. “This tournament will test everyone’s skill and composure, but I’m confident in my strategy and form. I want to make Kenya proud and prove that we can compete with the best in Africa.”

Rangers Esports Director Mark Libabu believes events like this are transforming gaming into a viable profession. “Esports is more than just entertainment now—it’s a career space,” Libabu said.
“My passion is to help young gamers see that their talent can open real opportunities. Our goal is to build a strong, self-sustaining esports industry in Kenya.”

Tournament director Caroline Nyambura, fondly known as Mama Selina, shared her enthusiasm about the growing esports scene.
“This tournament is about more than just gaming; it’s about creating opportunities for youth. We have worked tirelessly to ensure everything is in place—from logistics to sponsorships,” she said.

The event has received strong backing from sponsors including Mombasa Cement, Nilesh Gorasia, Oscar Scartek Limited, Kili Games Tanzania, Sovev Studio Branding, Fulchand Manek & B Brothers, and Simon Seda 3D Entertainments.

The two-day showdown kicks off Saturday in Naivasha, promising top-notch action and a celebration of the fast-rising esports culture in East Africa.
