Matchday 4 of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League delivered decisive shifts across all four groups, with commanding home performances, vital away victories and dramatic comebacks shaping the race for the quarter-finals as the group stage reached its halfway point.

Defending champions Pyramids strengthened their grip on Group A with a dominant display in Cairo, while Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman seized control of Group C with a statement victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on neutral ground.

Group B remains finely balanced after Al Ahly were held in Zanzibar and AS FAR Rabat claimed a narrow home win, while resilience on the road kept Stade Malien top of Group D despite mounting pressure from their closest challengers.

GROUP A – Pyramids pull clear as Power Dynamos revive hopes

Pyramids FC moved to the brink of the quarter-finals after a commanding 3–0 victory over RS Berkane in Cairo.

Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez “Zalaka” opened the scoring early before Nasser Maher and Ahmed Atef “Qatta” sealed a dominant performance that lifted the Egyptian side to 10 points, three clear at the top of the group.

In Port Harcourt, Power Dynamos reignited their campaign with a disciplined 1–0 away win against Rivers United, courtesy of Kundwani Chiboni’s second-half strike. The Zambians move to four points, while Rivers United remain bottom.

The hosts struck just before half-time, but Aliou Dieng redeemed an earlier error by firing home the equaliser from a set piece after the break, keeping the Egyptian champions unbeaten on eight points.

Later in Rabat, AS FAR edged JS Kabylie 1–0 thanks to Hamza Khabba’s second-half finish, lifting the Moroccans to five points and level with Young Africans. Kabylie remain bottom with two.

Al-Hilal Omdurman moved clear at the top of Group C after a statement 2–1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in Kigali.

Mohammed Abdel Rahman’s stoppage-time penalty gave the Sudanese champions the lead before Jean Claude Girumugisha doubled the advantage early in the second half. Sundowns responded through Arthur Sales, but Al-Hilal held firm to claim all three points.

In Algiers, MC Alger recorded their first win of the campaign with a controlled 2–0 victory over St Éloi Lupopo, lifting both sides to four points, with the Algerians edging ahead on goal difference.

Stade Malien retained top spot in Group D after a hard-fought 0–0 draw away to Petro Atletico.

The Angolan side missed a late penalty that could have altered the standings, allowing Stade Malien to escape with a valuable away point and remain unbeaten.

In Dar es Salaam, Esperance de Tunis boosted their qualification hopes with a dramatic 2–2 draw against Simba SC, recovering from a two-goal deficit. Aboubacar Diakité and Kouceila Boualia struck after the break, though a missed stoppage-time penalty denied Esperance a famous comeback win.
