The African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship delivered another day of ruthless efficiency on Thursday, with all seven matches on Day Four ending in straight sets as the race for knockout places intensified in Cairo.

There was little room for drama, but plenty of statement performances, particularly from hosts and East African sides who continue to assert their dominance heading into the decisive stages of the pool phase.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly Women’s Volleyball Club thrilled home fans with a commanding 3-0 victory over Cameroon’s MKE (25-21, 25-18, 25-11), tightening their grip on Pool A and reinforcing their status as tournament favourites.

East African teams once again lit up the competition with a series of emphatic wins. Ethiopia’s NAL swept past Côte d’Ivoire’s OMD (25-14, 25-17, 25-8), while Kenya’s DCI continued their impressive run with a dominant 3-0 victory over DR Congo’s VLA (25-13, 25-19, 25-15).

Kenya’s KCB Women’s Volleyball Club also maintained their strong form, overpowering Seychelles’ ARS in straight sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-17) to keep their momentum firmly intact in Pool D.

In Pool B, Senegal’s SOC secured a hard-fought straight-sets win over DR Congo’s VCL (25-20, 25-19, 26-24), the closest contest of the day despite the 3-0 scoreline. Ghana’s KSC, meanwhile, delivered one of the most one-sided performances, dismantling Burundi’s GLC (25-15, 25-11, 25-15).

The clean sweep of straight-set victories highlighted a growing gap between the tournament’s frontrunners and teams battling to stay alive, as consistency and composure begin to define the contenders.
