Tunisia took a significant step toward securing qualification for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, following a 2-1 win over The Gambia on Sunday.
The match, played at the Ben Ahmed Al Abdi Stadium in Morocco, saw Tunisia build on their previous success in the qualifiers, cementing their position at the top of Group A with six points.
Ali Al-Abdi opened the scoring for Tunisia in the 11th minute, capitalizing on an early opportunity that left the Gambian defense flat-footed.
However, Gambia quickly responded with an equalizer just minutes later, as Ali Sowe leveled the score, setting up an intense contest for the remainder of the game.
Despite chances on both sides, the teams went into the break tied at 1-1.
The decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane struck the winning goal for Tunisia, securing the victory and extending their group lead following their 1-0 triumph over Madagascar last Thursday.
As Match Day 2 of the qualifiers progresses, fans can look forward to more action across the continent, with fixtures continuing throughout the week.
