The live action in the English top-flight begins on the afternoon of Saturday January 18 with a clash between Newcastle and Bournemouth at St. James’ Park. Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo will hope to replicate his FA Cup form, where he bagged a goal and assist in the league.

“I feel like I’m developing my game a lot more, and that comes down to the manager [Andoni Iraola],” shares the Cherries attacker. “He seems to be able to maximise my abilities and attributes, and it’s really nice to have the manager, his assistants and my teammates pushing me to be the best that I can be.”

The late afternoon kick-off on the same day will see Leicester City lock horns with Fulham at the King Power Stadium. Nigerian striker Alex Iwobi says that the Cottagers squad is a brotherhood.

“We’re really fighting for each other,” he told BBC Sport Africa. “You can see it on the pitch, but off the pitch what the cameras don’t catch is that we’re really one big brotherhood. It’s a nice environment, the chemistry is really good and I feel like that’s helping us get the results we need.”

Sunday January 19 will see Manchester United do battle with Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. Following the high of knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup, the Red Devils are seeking better results in the domestic league.

Skipper Bruno Fernandes recently defended Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana after he came under fire for an error in a crucial game recently. “We have to focus on what’s the solution in the future, but it’s not about Andre making a mistake,” he says.

“We don’t look at individuals here when something happens on the wrong side or the good side, for all the players involved.”

The last fixture of the round will take place on the evening of Monday January 20 as Chelsea take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.
