The first match of the TotalEnergies Champions League will take place in Cairo, Egypt. Former champions TP Mazembe will play Egypt’s Pyramids, a team that has shown promise in the CAF Interclub competition but hasn’t established itself as one of the dominant forces in African football yet.
The game is scheduled to begin at 18:00 local time (16:30 GMT).
Next up is Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, who will play host to Tanzania’s Young Africans, the runners-up in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup from the previous season.
Al Ahly, the defending CAF Champions League champions, will take on Medeama at home in an attempt to win a record 12 trophies.
African Football League (AFL) Champions Mamelodi Sundowns will play this season’s surprise package, FC Nouadhibou from Mauritania, at home to wrap up the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League action. Many people are unaware of the Club from Nouadhibou, a seaside town in Mauritania, but they have achieved some notable feats, such as defeating Real Bamako 3-0 during this competition’s qualifying stages.
