Preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) will gather fresh momentum this week as a delegation from the Confederation of African Football arrives in Uganda for a pivotal round of engagements with the host nations.
The two-day visit, scheduled for April 22nd to 23rd, will bring together key stakeholders from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania as they align on priorities for the next phase of tournament preparations.
At the heart of the discussions will be operational readiness across several critical areas, including infrastructure development, safety and security, procurement processes, finance, media coordination, ticketing systems, and commercial strategy.
The aim is to streamline efforts and ensure a unified approach as the region gears up to co-host the continent’s biggest football spectacle.
The meeting will convene high-ranking officials, including government representatives from the three nations, presidents of their respective football federations, and senior CAF leadership led by Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
Experts from various CAF departments such as competitions, broadcasting, and security will also take part in the engagements.
This latest visit underscores CAF’s commitment to closely supporting the host nations as they build robust coordination frameworks and strengthen their delivery capacity ahead of 2027.
Earlier in February, a CAF inspection team toured the three countries to evaluate their level of preparedness. At the time, concerns were raised after it emerged that none of the proposed stadiums across the host nations were ready, highlighting the scale of work required in the coming months.
With timelines tightening, this week’s meetings are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the roadmap toward a successful and historic AFCON.
